With COULISSE-Standard Worms the extension shafts are soft and can be machined to suit specific requirements as can the bore of the worm wheel. The worms without shafts are made of steel 1.0503 (C 45) and are bored and keywayed to DIN 6885. The worm wheels are made from a high quality special bronze which has excellent low friction properties. For normal applications Cast Iron can be used. When seIecting the size of gear the output power has to be multiplied by the factors: operating factor, safety factor, position factor and time factor for intermittent operation.
This calculation will give the output power for use with the per- formance data sheets so that the size of gear can be selected.
